We all want to make a name for ourselves—something, anything that would make our presence known even when we’ve already left this place. For Pablo Escobar, that was literally his name, and I don’t mean that in a good way.
Who is Pablo Escobar
Pablo Escobar of Colombia was famous in the 1980s. He was the leader of a famous and grand cocaine trafficker of his time, the Medellin Cartel. What brought him this position? He had ambition as well as the right dose of ruthlessness to conquer the obstacles he had to face. He was hungry for power. This hunger eventually enabled him to murder Fabio Restrepo, a neighboring Medellin drug lord. He stepped into the light and claimed Restrepo’s crime organization and expanded his operations. Money came in easily. Forbes eventually named him the seventh wealthiest man in the world by 1989.
Pablo didn’t take the honourable route towards leaving his mark, but he did achieve his goal. Just not the right way. He was rich and powerful, so far from the depths of poverty he was born into.
